The new year means new goals. Reading through the Bible in a year is one of them for many people.
I have a hard time staying focused, so my plan usually changes as I go. I follow a plan for a while, but I also read books or chapters that inspired me. Whenever I follow a plan, I always end up missing a day here or there. It’s hard to get back into the plan without feeling guilty that I failed. I had to learn to jump back in and don’t worry about missing it.
When I’m reading on my own I like to start with a short book. This gives me a sense of accomplishment. I read it more as a story rather than part of a plan. Sometimes I’ll get so involved in a story that I read more than one book or several chapters.
